PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the final seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
